Science Experiments (inspired by STEM) offer a wealth of language learning opportunities! • • Recalling items required • Sequencing steps of the experiment • Inferencing what will happen through the formation of hypotheses • Vocabulary development • Variations of the same experiment to reinforce language learning • And most importantly--FUNNNN, Interactive, and Engaging! • • This Volcano experiment was carried out with my student who uses a Tobii Dynavox Eye Gaze Device! When I tell people I work with children on feeding tubes, I typically get a lot of reactions of surprise, shock, and curiosity. But once the importance of feeding tubes for these children is explained, reactions are nothing but positive! Though the idea of one can be stressful, feeding tubes save lives for so many children and adults.
