Science Experiments (inspired by STEM) offer a wealth of language learning opportunities! • • Recalling items required • Sequencing steps of the experiment • Inferencing what will happen through the formation of hypotheses • Vocabulary development • Variations of the same experiment to reinforce language learning • And most importantly--FUNNNN, Interactive, and Engaging! • • This Volcano experiment was carried out with my student who uses a Tobii Dynavox Eye Gaze Device! When I tell people I work with children on feeding tubes, I typically get a lot of reactions of surprise, shock, and curiosity. But once the importance of feeding tubes for these children is explained, reactions are nothing but positive!
